Visit Cairns Tropical Zoo

During your stay at On the Beach Resort, treat the family to a fun filled nature adventure at Cairns Tropical Zoo, a multi-award winning wildlife park just a short drive from our Trinity beach family accommodation.

Spread out over 6 hectares of lush tropical gardens, the zoo houses the largest and most fascinating selection of native and non-native animals in North Queensland. As you explore the beautifully kept gardens, you’ll come face to face with rare Nepalese Red Pandas, cotton top tamarinds and wombats. There are informative exhibits throughout the park to draw attention to the national conservation effort, as well as fabulous interactive shows that all ages will love. Help out with kangaroo feeding time, enjoy the breathtaking giant croc show and have your photo taken cuddling Australia’s most iconic and cutest marsupial, the sleepy koala!

The zoo is home to one of the largest collections of reptiles in Australia, including dragons, snakes alligators and lizards. Don’t forget to check out the wonderful walk-through aviary where hundreds of tropical birds such as colourful bowerbirds and metallic starlings fly freely. An unforgettable day out for the whole family!
