This year marks the 99th anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand troupes at Gallipoli. But ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.
To mark the 99th anniversary, the following services will be held across the Cairns region.
3:50am Martyn St Cemetery march and service (meet at Martyn St Cemetery gates − Anderson St entrance)
5:30am Dawn parade and wreath laying (assemble at RSL Esplanade)
9:15am Commemoration Parade (from Fogarty Park along the Esplanade)
9:30am Observance Ceremony (Munro Marton Park)
6:00am Dawn service (Cenotaph)
6:30am Parade (along Vasey Esplanade)
